Blue Test Kit Quick Guide

Use the card and reagents for your exact kit. These are practical reminders, not a replacement for labels, training, or local rules.

Free chlorine

Sanitizer available to kill germs. If low, liquid chlorine or another approved sanitizer may be needed.

pH

Affects comfort, equipment, and chlorine performance. Use the kit demand test and product label before adding acid or base.

Total alkalinity

Buffers pH movement. Adjust slowly and retest before making another large change.

Calcium hardness

Helps prevent water from becoming too aggressive or scale-forming. Product choice depends on current reading.

Safety: Never mix pool chemicals. Keep chemicals dry and separate, use PPE, keep people out of the water during additions, and follow the product label. If pre-dissolving is required, add chemical to water, not water to chemical.

Safety references: CDC Pool Chemical Safety and EPA Pool Chemical Safety Alert.
